Lactation Consultancy Practice Love and Trust

To be able to breastfeed, you need love and trust. Oxytocin is also known as the love hormone; this hormone is very important during breastfeeding. You need trust—trust in your body, yourself, and your baby. You are a team and do this together.

I am Daphne Kooijman-Deurloo. I have been working as a midwife for 5 years. During my training, I worked as a maternity nurse and night nanny. Altogether, I have 8 years of experience supporting young parents and breastfeeding. As a midwife, I focus on all the natural processes surrounding pregnancy and birth—breastfeeding is part of that. It doesn’t always go smoothly, and I want to help parents with this.

I am a mother of a 1.5-year-old daughter who still happily breastfeeds. As a midwife and mother, I’ve seen how valuable it is to apply prior knowledge to your breastfeeding journey. During my training to become a lactation consultant, I am learning how to help parents when things don’t go naturally. I find it wonderful to apply this directly in practice as a midwife. By the end of the summer, I will graduate as a lactation consultant, and consultations can be scheduled via the website.

Helping parents with breastfeeding starts during pregnancy. That’s why I started a breastfeeding information evening. In two hours, I explain how breastfeeding works and how to get the best start. See the photo below for more information; you can sign up via the link.
